The sessions for the song, included on the "Sgt. John wrote the verse about "I used to be cruel to my woman", and later cited it as an early piece of confessional songwriting on his part. In his official Beatles biography, Hunter Davies explains how he watched the boys sitting around in Abbey Road studios coming up with ideas for the song. this one's about their song, 'Getting Better', from BBM 162 :) This was one of John and Paul's few 50/50 collaborations from the 'studio years'.
